Banksy is, probably, back. Alas, the average Briton will miss him, if it is him, because the latest stencil work, showing a little girl holding a flare, is on a wall by a Venetian canal.
It appeared at some point before May 13, and it isn’t the worst work at this year’s Biennale – in fact, being located more than two miles from the Arsenale and Giardini, it isn’t part of it at all. (You can see the place, if not the piece, on Google Maps: look west from the bridge by the Farmacia Santa Margherita, and it’s the nearest south-facing wall, just above the waterline.)
A week has passed, and Banksy has neither confirmed nor denied. (His publicist, Jo Brooks, didn’t respond to a request for comment.)...
