2 Dope Queens
Comedy podcasting is a male-dominated area; so it’s heartening to find a show which places women front and centre. This wonderful series from WNYC Studios (who also make Radiolab) should come as a wake-up call to an industry that’s been resting on its blokeish laurels for too long. Presented by two young black comics, Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams, and recorded in front of a live crowd in New York, the episodes have a captivating house-party-for-the-ears feel about them, and make uninhibited light of everything from race to sexuality to the enduring appeal of Matthew McConaughey. NB: strong language throughout.
